VIRGINIA COMPANY BANK OPENS IN HAMPTON
Hampton, VA (February 1, 2011) - The Board of Directors at Virginia Company Bank (www.vacompanybank.com) is pleased to announce the opening of the Bank’s third location in Hampton.
Located at the corner of Coliseum Drive and Marcella Road in Coliseum Central, the newly constructed branch is approximately 5,000 square feet and features a three-lane drive-thru. The building was designed by Rancorn Wildman Architects and constructed by Ritchie-Curbow Construction. The new branch in Hampton will employ about 5-6 people with Melinda Smith as Branch Manager.
Virginia Company Bank also plans to break ground on a new location in High Street in Williamsburg later this year. The Williamsburg office will relocate from its current 2,000 square foot office in New Town when the High Street branch is completed in fall 2011.
The five year old Bank was recently awarded a four-star ranking by Bauer Financial. A four-star rating marks the Bank as “superior”, based on Bauer’s five-star scale which rates safety and soundness. As of the third quarter 2010, Virginia Company Bank has $115.6 million in assets and about 800 shareholders. It had a third quarter net income of $107,000.
“Virginia Company Bank started five years ago, and given the economic climate since then, it’s certainly been a challenging five years,” said Mark Hanna, President and CEO of Virginia Company Bank. “But we’re continuing to grow in the same smart, conservative way that ensures we will remain a safe and sound banking solution for the Peninsula for years to come.”
Virginia Company Bank was founded in 2005 and has banking offices in
Newport News, Hampton, and Williamsburg. The Bank is led by a Board of
local business people whose intention has always been to provide a Peninsula
bank for Peninsula people. This strong local focus helps Virginia Company
Bank pursue their mission to help modern-day visionaries achieve their
