The Hampton Police Division has noticed an increase in stolen Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to the lack of ignition immobilizers in certain models produced between 2010-2021. Owners of affected models are urged to contact Kia (800-333-4542) and Hyundai (800-633-5151) to learn if their vehicle is eligible for software updates.
Theft Prevention Tips
- Park your vehicle in a well-lit area with surveillance
- Lock your vehicle and activate the car alarm
- Utilize a steering wheel lock
- Install a GPS tracker
