Utility Box Transformation
Coliseum Central is taking proactive steps to beautify the district and discourage graffiti through a creative new initiative. In collaboration with the City of Hampton, select traffic signal boxes along Coliseum Drive and Mercury Boulevard have been wrapped with vibrant images showcasing some of the area’s most iconic buildings. The designs feature well-known landmarks such as the Hampton Coliseum, the Hampton Roads Convention Center, and the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. These colorful wraps not only deter vandalism but also turn previously overlooked utility boxes into attractive features of the streetscape. Each wrap is treated with a special coating that makes graffiti easier to remove, helping to ensure the installations remain clean and well-maintained over time. This project is part of Coliseum Central’s ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming, vibrant, and visually appealing environment throughout the district.
