Small Business Symposium

The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) and Hampton Economic Development Department will host the 2022 Hampton Roads Small Business Symposium on June 22 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center (1610 Coliseum Drive). The event will run from 8AM-1PM. This FREE half-day conference will have workshops focused on the basic elements of government contracting, the procurement process (including how to do business with the City of Hampton and the Commonwealth of Virginia), and other topics that will provide guidance to small business owners who want to take their businesses to the next level. Attendees will also have an opportunity to network and collaborate with other business owners, learn from talented, experienced speakers, and visit a host of exhibitors.

Guest speakers include Floyd Miller, President and CEO of Metropolitan Business League and Tony DiSilvestro, CEO and Founder of YNot Italian Franchise/ Membership Chair of Southeastern Virginia Entrepreneurs’ Organization. Summer Fun

Summer’s almost here and that means parents will be looking for something to keep the kids busy while school’s out. Here are a few things happening in Coliseum Central this summer:

  • Mekos Indoor Skate Park (3420 Von Schilling Dr.) – Summer Skate Camp begins June 27 and runs through August 26, Monday-Friday 9AM-1PM. Camp is $149/week with a one-time $25 registration fee. Mekos also offers weekly and monthly membership options as well as a summer pass. For more information, click here.
  • Sky Zone Trampoline Park (2055 Executive Drive) – Jump all summer long with the $49.99 Summer Pass. This pass includes 90 minutes of jump time every day for 3 months. Sky Zone also offers an annual pass. For more information, click here.
  • Bluebird Gap Farm (60 Pine Chapel Road) – Open daily from 9AM-5PM, the 60-acre farm has around 150 domestic and wild animals. Amenities include picnic areas, large playground, duck pond, and Azalea Trail. Admission is FREE. For more information, click here.

Lunch & Learn Series

The Peninsula Home-based Business Network is hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn Series, with monthly sessions from April to September. On June 8, Monique McWhite and Ben Salomonsky of Old Dominion University’s Business Development Center discuss Website Development and Social Media Marketing.

EVO Entertainment

EVO Entertainment (4401 W. Claiborne Square) opened in Peninsula Town Center on May 27 in the former Studio Movie Grill location. This state-of-the-art, one-stop entertainment destination has eight dine-in theaters with luxury recliners and push-button service, a nine-lane bowling alley, arcade games, a restaurant and bar, and private event space. Peninsula Town Center is adding residential space with the opening of The Chapman Flats (670 Downey Green) luxury apartments.
