Tastefully Yours
Tastefully Yours, Virginia Peninsula Foodbank’s largest fundraising event, is returning to the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Thursday, September 29, 2022, after a two-year pause. This food, beer, and wine tasting event provides an opportunity for area restaurants to showcase their signature dishes. The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank has limited space available for participants. Who Is Boo? Weekend Experience
“Who is Boo? |The Legend Behind the Name” is a multi-part documentary series about the life of Hampton native Marcellus “Boo” Williams and the impact he has had on the world of basketball. Join in the celebration and experience a piece of the documentary at the Weekend Experience August 26-27. Events at the Boo Williams SportsPlex (5 Armistead Pointe Pkwy.) include an Alumni Game on Friday at 6PM and a free Basketball Clinic on Saturday at 9AM. For more information, click here.

Tax Free Weekend
Virginia’s 3-day sales tax holiday starts Friday, August 5 and ends Sunday, August 7. During this time, the following qualifying purchases will not be charged sales tax:
- School supplies
- Clothing and footwear
- Hurricane and emergency preparedness items
- Energy Star and WaterSense products

Business Connection After Hours
The Virginia Peninsula Chamber will hold its monthly Business Connection After Hours at the Work/Place at E-Commerce Center (1708 Todds Lane) on July 28 from 4:30-6:30PM. Momo’s Cafe Ribbon Cutting
Momo’s Cafe (1930 Power Plant Pkwy.) will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 21 at 2PM. City officials will be on hand and light refreshments will be served. This event is open to the public.
Lunch & Learn Series
The Peninsula Home-based Business Network is hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn Series monthly through September. On July 13, Joey Pocan from the Small Business Administration discusses Homebased Business & Online Sales.

Riverside Psychiatric ED
Riverside Health System is building the region’s first stand-alone psychiatric emergency department on the campus of Riverside Behavioral Health Center (2244 Executive Drive). Set to open in late 2023, it will provide a round-the-clock support option for community members who may be experiencing a psychiatric crisis. The facility will be staffed by mental health specialists trained in the best techniques for empathetically assisting patients with non-physical care needs.
